Manama: Three gulf countries have been added to England’s quarantine-free corridor list, media reported on Thursday.
Travellers arriving in Britain from the UAE, Bahrain and Qatar will no longer have to quarantine themselves for 14 days, the report added.
They have been added to the quarantine-free list along with five other countries, includes Chile, Cambodia, Laos, and the Turks & Caicos Islands in the Caribbean, according to the transport department. This initially appears to be good news for travellers seeking winter sun after lockdown.
Earlier, these countries were in the mandatory quarantine list, which instructs arrivals to self-isolate for two weeks to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Bahrain Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, has welcomed UK’s announcement of adding the country to the list of safe countries.
Dr. Zayani praised the proactive precautionary measures taken by Bahrain and the progress they reached compared to other countries in confronting the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
He lauded the contributions of medical workers working at the front lines and the support of other entities for their efforts to protect the health and safety of the communities.
The Minister also commended the Bahraini community’s awareness and adherence to all the preventive measures, health requirements and instructions issued by the competent authorities.
