War Begins: "Ukraine Air Bases, Military Infrastructure Neutralised"; Read Updates Here

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine Thursday morning shortly after which,. Russian troops entered border-crossings  to the east north and south of Ukraine. Read updates below :

●  Plane from India returned without being able to to retrieve its citizens after Ukraine shuttered its airports following Russian attack. Roughly 18,000 Indians are estimated to be stranded in Ukraine.

●  Seven have been reported dead and nine injured so far. Russia said it will not attack civilian settlements and target only military bases.

●  European Union Commission President Ursula von der Leyen  promises “harshest ever sanctions” against Russia and says “We will freeze Russian assets in the European Union and stop access of russian banks to European financial markets.”

●  Following explosions Thursday morning, large number of people in Ukrainian capital take refuge in  subway stations . Photos have emerged showing stations full of people carrying supplies, organised in groups.

●  Pictures show long lines of cars heading out of Ukrainian capital. Explosions were reported in multiple cities including Kyiv, Kharkiv and port city of Odessa.

●  According to reports, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will convene a meeting with his military.

Early this morning the Russian troops had en route border crossing with Belarus entered Ukraine. Belarus and Russia share close military ties and Russia recently conducted extensive military drills in the country.

●  Russian-backed rebels claim control of two towns  in Luhansk region.

●   According to Russian defence ministry, Ukraine’s air bases and military infrastructure have been neutralised,

●  In a livestream footage close to 7 am,, Russian troops atop  column of military vehicles are spotted entering Ukraine from a border-crossing with Belarus.

●  President Volodymr Zelensky anounces martial law early Thursday.

● Russian President Vladimir Putin announces military operation in Ukraine and urged Ukraiinian forces to put down their arms. All responsibility for potential bloodshed will be entirely on the conscience of Ukranian govt, said Putin.
