Kvyiv : According to latest reports, the Russian troops have seized control of Ukraine’s largest nuclear plant at Zaporizhzhia.  A fire erupted at a building inside the complex during intense fighting with Ukrainian defenders,  sending fears among world countries of potential nuclear disaster. The fire was later extinguished and the building identified as a training centre.

The plant at Zaporizhzhia generates a fifth of Ukraine’s total electricity. Footages shot at  night showed fire  near a five-storey building at the plant compound amid heavy shelling after which a large candescent ball lit up the sky and  exploded beside a parking lot, filling  compound with smoke.

As  Ukraine forces at the plant began fighting at the facility,   Presiadent Volodymr  Zelenskiy  in a video address said “Europeans, please wake up. Tell your politicians – Russian troops are shooting at a nuclear plant in Ukraine”

The Ukrainian regional authority on Friday confirmed Russian take over of the plant
