Palakkad : In a bid to foster financial literacy among young learners, Sabari Charitable Trust, a part of the renowned Sabari group, launched a unique initiative in Palakkad district. The project involved distributing piggy banks to 7300 students across the schools under the trust's umbrella. The initiative was inaugurated by Prof K V Thomas, a former Union Minister, and Shashikumar, Chairman of Sabari Charitable Trust, during a ceremony held on Thursday.
The participating schools included AUPS Kalluvazhi (482 students), Sabari VLNM UPS Vilayanchathanur (1258 students), Sabari HS Pallikurup (2928 students), Sabari Higher Secondary Pallikurup (240 students), Sabari PTB HS Adakkaputhur (493 students), and Sabari PTB Higher Secondary School Adakkaputhur (359 students).
Each piggy bank, distributed as part of the initiative, contained a token amount of Rs.100, symbolizing the importance of cultivating a savings mindset from a young age. Shashikumar, Chairman of Sabari Trust, stressed the significance of financial literacy in today's world. He highlighted the project's role in bridging the gap in financial knowledge among students, ensuring they develop a strong foundation for financial understanding.
The project aims to empower the next generation with essential life skills, promoting responsible financial habits and a secure financial future.
