Carmel Public School set to be crowned champions in CBSE meet

Kochi, Dec 19:Carmel Public School, Vazhakkulam, has bagged an unassailable lead, securing 249 points from 55 events, on the second day of the CBSE Cluster XI School Athletic Meet being held at the Maharaja’s College and Toc H Public School grounds here from December 18.

Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor, is in the second place in the race for the championship with 165 points while Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, is in the third position with 127 points. The schools in the fourth and fifth positions are Thevakkal Vidyodaya School (106 points) and Viswadeepthi Public School, Adimali. The athletic meet will conclude with ten more events tomorrow.

In the Under 14 Boys Category, Viswadeepthi Public School, Adimali, which led the tally on the first day, was pipped to post by Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor, which finished first, securing 28 points. Bhavan’s Newsprint Vidyalaya, Velloor, with 16 points, secured the second place while Viswadeepthi Public School, Adimali, had to be content with the third place (12 points).

In the Under 14 Girls Category, Thevakkal Vidyodaya School raced past Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor,  to secure first place with 25 points while the difference between the two schools was just one point. Carmel Public School, Vazhakkulam, finished third.

In Under 17 Boys Category, Carmel Public School, Vazhakkulam, is leading the pack. On the second day, the school tally was raised to 51 points. Close behind is Assissi Vidyanikethan, Chembumukku, with 34 points. Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal, is on the third spot with 30 points.

In the Under 17 Girls Category, Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, is leading with 57 points followed by Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala, with 49 points in the second place and Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal, with 32 points in the third place.

In the Under 19 Boys Category, Carmel Public School, Vazhakkulam, is a cut above the rest leading on the second day with 84 points. Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vaduthala, which is in second place has only 38 points. Bhavan’s Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kakkanad, is in the third spot. In the Under 19 Girls Category, Carmel Public School is the leader with 76 points. Bhavan’s Vidya Mandir, Eroor, is in the second slot with 73 points followed in the third slot by Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal, with 22 points.

More than 4000 student-athletes from over 200 CBSE Schools in the seven districts of Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts are vying with each other for honours at the meet.
