Four titles from LeftWord Books were released in connection with Party Congress.
The first book was Kerala: Another Possible World written by the former finance minister of Kerala, T M Thomas Isaac, who presented a copy of the book to Pinarayi Vijayan, chief minister of Kerala. The book outlines a blueprint for Kerala's development and growth with equity.
CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and Polit Bureau member Hannan Mollah were presented copies of When Farmers Stood Up: How the Historic Kisan Struggle Unfolded by its author Ashok Dhawale, General Secretary of the All India Kisan Sabha. Hannan Mollah was also presented with a copy of Farmers on the Move: The Story of How Kisans Organised in Maharashtra by Ajit Navale. Also on the stage were leaders of the Maharashtra Kisan Sabha Kisan Gujar, JP Gavit, and Sunil Malusare. Both these books are written by participants in the respective struggles.
The RSS has been propouding that the martyrs of the 1921 Malabar Revolt were not freedom fighters. The fourth book proves this is falsification of history and sets the historical record straight. The 1921 Rebellion in Malabar: A Collection of Communist Writings was presented by its co-editor Nitheesh Narayanan to Polit Bureau member S Ramachandran Pillai in the presence of Subhashini Ali, who has contributed the closing essay in the volume. The book also has a Foreword by Pinarayi Vijayan. The book release function was conducted by Sudhanva Deshpande, Managing Editor, LeftWord Books, and a delegate at the CPIM Congress.
