Kochi :  Governor Arif Mohammed Khan has said that the principles of love, service, sacrifice and harmony espoused by Scout and Guides and its motto of being prepared to face any eventuality are inspirational to every citizen of the country.

Speaking after presenting the Rajya Puraskar instituted by Hindustan Scouts and Guides Association, Kerala, to best-performing Scouts and Guides in schools in Kerala at Sree Sarada Vidyalaya, Kalady, Ernakulam, Mr Khan said that he was excited to see a young generation of boy Scouts and gird Guides, brimming with energy and confidence, coming forward to lead our society as future citizens.

The Governor said that he was also glad to see the function being organized at Sree Sarada Vidyalaya, Kalady, managed by the Adi Sankara Trust, which is the only institution from Kerala being upgraded among the 21 Sainik Schools in the private sector, recently.

“I am sure that the education imparted in the school and the noble values it has always upheld as a tribute to Jagad Guru Adi Shankaracharya, had contributed to this enviable achievement,” Mr Khan said.

The Governor noted that as a non-political, non-sectarian, non-communal and not-for-profit organization affiliated to the World Federation of Independent Scout-Germany and recognized by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Hindustan Scouts and Guides Association has been actively popularizing the Scout movement since 2018.

“I am happy that the Association has inspired the student community by providing a constructive platform to enrich their leadership skills and team-building abilities,” the Governor said and hoped that the organisation’s goal to expand its reach to 2000 schools in Kerala will materialise soon. Kerala has currently 1.5 lakh members in the Scout and Guide movement.
