That's the thing about books, they let you travel without moving your feet- American writer Jhumpa Lahiri's quote on books is enthusiastic.  Every new book opens a new portal, either to an existing or a fictional place.  As part of a larger cultural body, literature has the power to facilitate personal understanding and encourage social cohesion. Literary writers in different languages played a significant role in advancing the cause of social reforms in our society.

A large world of books has been organised in Kannur Collectorate Ground in the sidelines of 23rd Party Congress of the CPI-M. Visitors can find a huge variety of books which depict the world and social movements in the International Book Festival.

As many as 63 publishers in India, including Aakar Books, Prism, Penguin, Bharathi Bookstore, Prajasakti, Nava Telangana, Chintha Publications, DC Books, Mathrubhumi, Sahitya Prasadhaka Sahakarana Sangham, Balasahithya Institute and others have put on display lakhs of  books written by eminent writers.

 The book collection includes those written by historian Irfan Habib, Achin Vinaik,  Iqbal Husain, the eminent lawyer Abdul Ghafoor Majeed Noorani, and thinkers such as N Ram, Prabhat Patnaik, Noam Chomsky, Aijas Ahmad etc. World classics, biographies of eminent leaders and cultural heroes, books about  various struggles, historical writings, feminist movement, children's literature ect., are also there.
